Minor Office Procedures Workshop

This exciting interactive learning event is designed for NP students and practicing NPs who want to increase their skill and confidence in minor office procedures. In this 3-hour workshop, you will learn and practice the most common minor procedures used in primary care settings. Lectures are focused on orthopedic procedures, nail techniques, infectious procedures, foreign body removal, and eye procedures. The lectures are followed by demonstration and practice time with the presenter.

Each attendee will receive the APEA Minor Procedures kit, included in the registration fee, prior to the event. The kit will be mailed prior to the event via U.S. Postal Service. In order to provide sufficient time for kit delivery, the registration deadline for this event is October 30, 2020.

Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this CE activity, the learner will be able to:
  • Describe, demonstrate and practice the important components necessary for minor office procedures
  • Discuss the pharmacologic agents and anesthesia methods necessary for the minor procedures
  • Determine when to use local versus digital blocks for procedures involving fingers, toes, and abscesses
  • State the common methods for removing various foreign bodies in the eyes, ears, nose, and soft tissue

Meet Your Presenter
Denise Ramponi, DNP, FNP-C, ENP-BC, FAANP, FAEN, is an emergency medicine nurse practitioner who is faculty in the DNP program at Robert Morris University, where she is also a professor. In addition to her university responsibilities, she practices in several busy urgent care clinics, is a frequent presenter at national nurse practitioner conferences, and is the Radiology column editor for the Advanced Emergency Nursing Journal.
